Dhokra animal figurines - camel, deer and elephant - important animals of the Indian subcontinent and part of the folklore of many regions of the country. These figurines are made with love by our tribal artisans from the interiors of Odisha.

The artifacts represent an ancient Indian tribal brass craft known as Dhokra which dates back to pre-historic times of the Harrappa and Mohenjodaro Civilizations. Dhokra is made with non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique with an alloy of nickel, brass and zinc. Using the same technique of the unique 13 stage process of Dhokra / Bell metal making the tribal families of Odisha cast the figures of gods and goddesses, lamps, boxes, ornaments and other utility objects.
