A set of matchboxes — collectors items. Inspired by the fire that takes ISRO’s missions to the Moon (Chandrayaan), Mars (Mangalyaan) and manned missions into outer space (Gaganayaan)!

ISRO is the pioneer of Space Technology in the world and it runs the world’s most economically efficient Space programs including the Moon & Mars missions – Chandrayaan & Mangalyaan.

This product is a tribute to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the country’s technological prowess as it stirs up national pride.

India’s first Chandrayaan mission was achieved in 2008. Launched in October 2008, the Indian Space Research Agency (ISRO)’s Chandrayaan-1 remained operational until August 2009. It was intended to orbit and study the moon for two years. The first Chandrayaan mission was instrumental in the discovery of water on the moon and then hit the headlines again a decade later for its own surprising rediscovery in orbit around the moon.

On August 20, 2019, India successfully launched its second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 on-board its powerful rocket GSLV-MkIII-M1 from the spaceport in Sriharikota to explore the uncharted south pole of the celestial body by landing a rover. It was a moment of pride for the entire nation.

The Mars Orbiter Mission (M.O.M.), also called Mangalyaan was India’s first interplanetary mission and was majorly led by women! In 2013, India reached the Mars - the Red Planet - India's space odyssey got a turbo boost.  Mangalyaan launched a probe carrying five instruments to study aspects of the red planet, from its mineral composition to potential signs of past life. Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is also one of the cheapest interplanetary missions ever undertaken. The success in placing the spacecraft in the Martian orbit has made India the fourth space power after the United States, Europe and Russia to orbit or land on the Red Planet.

Gaganyaan is ISRO’s major project of sending humans to space, to a low earth orbit, onboard an Indian vehicle. The first unmanned mission is planned for December 2021 and the second one is scheduled in 2022-23.
