This cotton canvas tote bag is an ode to the five sacred elements of Nature - Panchmahabhuta.

Pancha Bhoota, according to Hinduism, is the basis of all cosmic creation. These elements are: Prithvi(Earth), Jal Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), Aakasha(Space ). These elements have different characteristics and these also account for different faculties of human experience. In ayurveda and Indian philosophy, the human body is considered to be made of these five elements. The bag is inspired by these five elements.

This cotton canvas bag is made by eCoexist - a social enterprise that promotes natural and recycled products made by underprivileged groups. eCoexist foundation runs environment campaigns and develops green livelihoods. They make wide range of cloth bags which is also a livelihood program for a women self help group.

The pollution caused by disposable consumer products is generally due to the material they are using which may be non-biodegradable or non-recyclable and also due to the way the product itself has been designed, forcing absolution after a limited number of uses. eCoexist has been working along with product designers to look at the potential offered by waste products and materials to be upcycled into newer reusable products.
