It was renamed as Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in the year 2001 to commemorate the founder of Indian film Industry Dadasaheb Phalke. The greatest advantage of Film City is its location and vast area covering more than 520 acres of land in suburbs of Mumbai. The Film city has approximately 42 Outdoor Shooting Locations. Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation (MFSCDC) envisions transforming the current facility into an international standard integrated film-making destination.
