This 500 piece folk art puzzle in Orissa Patchitra painting comes with a picture card and spreads out to a bright 50cm X 40cm painting when completed.

In this 500 piece folk art puzzle painting various events from the very interesting life of Lord Krishna are depicted in this art piece. Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva, in a prison, in Mathura. Knowing the prophecy that Devaki’s child would slay him, the king of Mathura, Kamsa sought to kill every child born to his sister Devaki. Vasudeva managed to slip Krishna to the safety of Vrindavan, where he was raised by Yashoda. Krishna’s boyhood was periodically interrupted by attempts on his life, by demons in various forms. He successfully defeated the demons, always. The centre of the art piece depicts the Rasleela, where the Gopikas(cow-herd girls) are shown mesmerised and enchanted by Krishna.

Pattachitra style of painting is one of the oldest and most popular folk art forms of Odisha. The name Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words patta, meaning canvas, and chitra, meaning picture.  This art form too finds its strong roots in the traditions of Lord Jagannath, the presiding deity of Orissa. The creation of the Pattachitra paintings is a disciplined art form, and the chitrakars maintain rigidity in their use of colours and patterns, restricting the colours to a single tone.

Made in China

The product is good quality and came out pretty well after joining all pieces. the biggest issue I have is that it's made in China. I bought this product to support India and its artisan. it was disappointing.
