Our ode to the Ramayana and the Ram Temple at Ayodhya! Relive the solemn occasion and the principles of Ramrajya! With this set of exquisite Panchaloha idols set of the inspiring gods of the Ramayana!

In the 7th to 10th century CE, South India became the epi-center of the Bhakti movement, which emphasised a devotee’s strong & profound, personal relationship with his/her deity. This manifested in the construction of a large number of temples, all over the country, patronized by kings & empires. The magnificent Chola empire was one of them.

Patronized by the magnanimous Chola emperors, a community of artisans called Sthapathis emerged around the region of what is today Swamimalai, in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, and were inextricably linked with the making of bronze idols & sculptures of Gods & Goddesses.

Considered to be descendants of Vishwakarma, the divine architect, this community has a 1000-year-old legacy, still employing the ‘lost wax technique’ for creating the mold & adhering to the rules of Shilpa Shastra for sculpting the idols.

In 2008, the Swamimalai Bronze Idols received the Geographic Indication Tag, that has enhanced their economic significance throughout the world.

This set of Panchaloha (Copper, Zinc, Tin, Gold, Silver) idols of Ram, Lakshman, Sita & Hanuman, beautifully encapsulates the historical, cultural, spiritual, artistic, and economic significance of the South Indian town of Swamimalai and is an apt embellishment to your collection.
