These coasters are inspired by Sacred Geometry- Yantras. Yantra is a Sanskrit word that means "contraption" or "machine." Its use dates back to 11,000 - 10,000 BC. Indian Tantric traditions used yantras as mystical diagrams to aid in meditation and deity worship.

This coaster set consists following four most well-known and complex yantras designed on Bidri metalcraft.

  • Shree Yantra,
  • Ganesh Yantra,
  • Tara Yantra
  • Saraswati Yantra

The “Sri Yantra” is a complex yantra consisting nine interlocking triangles surrounding a central bindu and bordered by lotus petals and triangular designs that symbolize the doors to the universe. The four of these triangles are pointing upward (representing masculine God Shiva) and five downward (representing female deity Shakti). The combination of the two triangles represents the metaphysical and biological union and the creative potential that gives rise to life and the universe. Actually Sri Yantra is a mathematically precise design and based upon Golden Proportion. Everything that exists in nature, is constructed in a proportionately precise manner and this proportion is called the Golden/Phi ratio.

The Ganesh Yantra illustrates the dance of the circle and the square with the circle representing the unconscious aspects of the psyche that are made squared or made conscious. This allows your consciousness to harvest the hidden treasures of the unconscious to fulfill of your tasks. This yantra consists of a square (with four gates that open to your four functions, four elements, four seasons and wholeness of consciousness.) and in its middle an eight petals lotus and six triangles, closed on each side. This permits the lotus within (the soul) to blossom into the wholeness represented by the eight petals. Masculine and feminine energies are thus integrated into a hermaphrodite soul.

The word Tara means ‘star’ and it symbolizes light. Thus, Goddess Tara as ‘light’ is known to guide, carry over, overcome and conquer hurdles for acquiring knowledge, attain powerful speech and acquire the qualities of learning. The square is the fundamental format of Tara yantra. There is a significant, well thought out logic behind it. The phenomenal world extends into four directions. These four directions represent the totality of space, and they bind the earth in order.

Goddess Saraswati is known for wisdom, education, intellect and speech. Everybody needs to enhance their knowledge through various ways like academic pursuits, private study of religious/spiritual agreements etc. Saraswati Yantra helps to attain all these. It enhances the knowledge, improves concentration and memory power and performance in the examinations. She is also referred to as Vak devi (goddess of speech) and Sakala kaladhishtatri (goddess bestowing all the arts), therefore, devotee is blessed with an understanding of music, dance and other creative arts and is enabled to achieve proficiency in them. Only good thoughts will spring up in the worshipper’s minds. The figure with rounded lines made in the middle of the yantra is symbolic of the veena held in Shri Saraswati Devi’s hand which represents Her kriyashakti (Energy of action).
