The Indic Inspirations Design Team has recreated the iconic INSV Kaundinya as a detailed 4-inch scale model, inspired by India’s rich maritime heritage and the traditional stitched-ship craftsmanship of ancient India.
This miniature model captures the distinctive character of the reconstructed stitched ship, including its traditional hull form, masts, sails, rigging, pulleys, and ropes. Every element has been carefully designed to reflect the craftsmanship and construction techniques associated with the original vessel.

A Legacy of Indian Maritime Craftsmanship
The reconstruction of the 19.6-metre stitched ship, inspired by a circa 4th-century CE vessel depicted in the Ajanta paintings and supported by ancient texts, carvings, and historical accounts, began in 2022. The project seeks to revive India’s remarkable tradition of stitched-ship building and celebrate the skills of its traditional shipwrights.
The 4-inch scale model brings this remarkable maritime legacy into a compact collectible, allowing enthusiasts to own a finely detailed representation of the reconstructed INSV Kaundinya.
