The yoga prop Yoga pillow is a popular yoga accessory used to provide comfort, support poses and increase stretching during restorative postures and deep breathing exercises. The yoga pillow is stuffed tight with cotton.  You can add, remove, or replace the cotton through a zipped closure on the side of the pillow cover. The pillow cover is a high quality, naturally-dyed, hand spun and hand woven of jute-cotton fabric.

These pillows are ideal for fitness classes and travel.

What is a yoga pillow used for?

Pillows are widely used in restorative yoga classes. A pillow can be placed under various parts of the body for firm yet comfortable support to encourage total release and relaxation. Restorative yoga can have a deeply soothing effect on the mind and nervous system – think of a bolster as restorative yoga’s best friend!

A pillow is particularly useful in pregnancy yoga and can also be super helpful for anyone working with injuries or specific conditions – basically, a pillow offers support to any part of the body that requires more support. It is perfect to support yoga asanas like Paryankasana (Couch Pose).

Craft Story:

The removable pillow cover is woven of natural fibers like Jute and Cotton fabrics by a collective of 45 Craftswomen from Rajankatti, Makelmardi, Kadoli, Hunnur, Telaganatti, Madanbhavi, and Chikoppa which are drought prone regions in the state of Karnataka. In this jute cotton mat, jute is used in horizontal fashion (in shuttles of loom) to hide the roughness, and to give a detailed finish through cotton thread overlaying. This cotton gives a fine smooth texture feel to the product.

These products are made with using many of Northern Karnataka’s craft-traditions and techniques such as: indigo dyeing of the Neelgars, rope-twisting, folk-stitching and joinery of the Nadafs, vegetable tanning/dyeing of hides and leather-crafting of the Dhor and Samgar communities, wool-felting, spinning and kambal weaving techniques of sheepherding communities.

Care Instructions:

The pillow cover is suitable for both hand wash and machine wash in cold water, using a mild detergent. This ensures that your bolster cover remains clean, fresh and germ-free at all times. Use no bleach or softener and also no centrifugation. Hang dry.
